Baklawa is a rich, sophisticated and sweet dessert pastry made with layers of filo dough, filled with chopped/ground nuts that may include walnuts, pistachio, pine nuts, and cashew, It is then sweetened and held together with syrup, frosting or honey.
While Kunafa is a probably the most traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with thin noodle-like pastry, or alternatively fine semolina dough, depending on the country.
It is known to be soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup, and typically layered with cheese, or with other ingredients such as cream (Ashta) or nuts. Kunafa is cherished in the middle east and equally loved internationally.
